Another great weekend of training for the Grindstone 100. Our son Chris came up for a visit this weekend and had the pleasure of participating in the training. We choose a long route up Mt. Washington. It was all walking, but good training to build our climbing skills for the 23,000 ft of elevation gain that we will encounter during the Grindstone. The route was the Great Gulf trail to Gulf Side trail to the summit of Mt Washington. At the summit we encountered wind gusts of over 30 MPH and bitter cold. We descended the Nelson Crag trail to the auto road from which we ran the final four miles back to the car.
Congratulations Mike Bingham and Kim Harvey for crushing Mt. Washington in the 2010 Auto Road Race. Seven point six miles and only one hill...how hard can that be? The pics below show Mike and Kim on the steepest part - 22%. Some of the racers couldn't maintain their speed on this section, and were falling over.
Tammy and Jeff out enjoying a run through the woods around and on Mt Wachusett. This is the first of many long runs as we prepare for the Gridnstone 100. Need help training for your endurance event? Contact us.
Wildcat Epic was a 100 mile mountain bike stage race that took place in New Paltz, New York. The link above will bring you to the event website and the link below will bring you to video of the race.
